Andrew, Ethan, Ben & Savannah: “Update on the Steece Quads and their Diaper Darlings”

    Christmas 2007

The Diaper Darlings have been going strong since September 16, 2007 caring for the Quads: Ben, Savannah, Drew and Ethan. What precious babies–they smile, laugh, and talk. Recently, I was holding Ben when his mom, Suzanne, came up the stairs, and I watched his eyes follow her every move as she went into another room. And when she came out, he followed her voice every step of the way. It’s such a treat to watch Savannah, Ethan and Andrew laugh with their grandfather. Both Suzanne’s and Joe’s parents come in to visit on weekends as they all live several hours away.

[mediagrid cat=”110″ filter=”0″ title_under=”0″ r_width=”auto” align=”center”] The Quads have about 50 adopted Mom’s, Grandma’s, Great Grandma’s and Grandpa’s who love them dearly. I can’t put myself on the weekly schedule since I am caring for Marcie, however, I get my “baby fix” when visiting on weekends. For four months the Diaper Darlings have been there from 7:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. with three families spending the night two days a week. Now that the Quads are sleeping through the night, we just need to cover from 9:30 am till 6:00 pm. And soon we’ll be cutting back even more from 1:00 p.m. till 6:30 p.m.

Suzanne, means so much to me now. I have adopted her and her husband, Joe, and all four babies. I was so lucky to have the knowledge of how to organize this wonderful group of Christian men and women who make up the Diaper Darlings. Suzanne has enough confidence in our team now that she can take a nap or run to the store if she needs to and we’re there for them on weekends, as needed.

So, I get my chance to help on weekends! I make sure the other Diaper Darlings are there on Sunday mornings so Suzanne and Joe can go to Church.

Recently the Diaper Darlings took charge for a full day while Suzanne went to Dallas (30 minutes or so away) to be with her friend, Casey, the day her Quads were born. (Casey gave birth to two boys and two girls and all are doing very well.) Suzanne and I have plans to help Casey form her own Share The Care™ team in Plano, TX. In fact, we even know another woman, named Hollee, who is due to have triplets in August so Susanne and I have offered to help her get a team going as well. Hollee and her husband live in Grapevine, TX

So, the Share The Care™ program not only helps people who are ill, but can also provide support to families during times of great joy as well. I’m so blessed to be able to offer this assistance to so many families. It feels so good to be able to “give back” some of the gifts given to me, and my family, while caring for my daughter, Marcie.
