GETTING READY:

THE FORMS YOU WILL NEED FOR YOUR FIRST MEETING
and
THE PRACTICAL FORMS FOR IMPORTANT JOBS

In Chapter 6 - Share The Care™ stresses the need for two people (a leader, and a coordinator) to organize the very important first meeting. The reason being that it requires preparation and familiarization with the exercises, designed by Dr. Miller, to get the group to talk honestly as well as bond them together emotionally.

During the meeting, all the systems that will keep the group running smoothly over long periods of time are introduced and explained. Vital information will be collected and the group will be able to function immediately. The meeting is fully scripted so you can run it efficiently and keep it on track.

The Coordinator needs to prepare a number of forms in order to collect information and explain the systems. There is a special workbook section in the book that explains each of these forms in great detail. They cover:

• What each is for
• Why you need it and
• How it works

Chapter 17 - Making The Home Safe and Comfortable contains important advice about the home when someone is ill, elderly or just unsteady on their feet. A fall can be a serious setback for someone recovering from an illness or injury and is one of the leading causes of accidental deaths, especially among the elderly. The Home Safety Chart gives you specifics to check for in the home.

Chapter 19 - When Groups Help Out at Home highlights some of the crazy things that happen when you have many people dealing with everyday household jobs. A shopping list is a necessity.

Chapter 20 - Getting Their Affairs in Order discusses a difficult but necessary job. Collecting the vital information on these forms gives you a good place to start.
